Cultural decentralisation, democratisation of knowledge, access to major contemporary artworks, promotion of the local and emerging scene, "heritage reactivation", sustainable development.
De Renava is firmly committed to its mission of developing the contemporary art scene in Corsica, as part of the movement to decentralise and democratise knowledge and culture. The different exhibition formats meet the need to show the great works of our time in an isolated area, to promote new and diverse forms of creation, to 'reactivate' the built heritage and to act in favour of sustainable and local development. This is how the Bonifacio Biennale, De Renava OFF and the Parcours Sauvage unveil.
ConfigurationCuration
Drawing its preferred subjects from the thematic and iconographic reservoir of the “inland sea”, including ancient mythologies, De Renava addresses the question of the heritage bequeathed by Mediterranean cultures, the starting point for universal debates.
Open to all fields of contemporary creation, with a particular interest in experiments linked to moving images, new media as well as monumental installations, De Renava stands out from major art events with exhibitions showing a reduced number of participants, offering privileged and intimate experiences.
Three manifestations
- 00
Biennale of Bonifacio
It takes place every two years in the emblematic citadel of the city, nestled in different heritage sites and within specially designed lodges. The Biennale hosts artworks by internationally renowned artists and part of its programming is dedicated to the island's creative scene. For 6 months, the exhibition invites the public to discover hidden gems and to renew their view of the city.
- 00
De Renava OFF
In years without a biennale, major artistic institutions from countries in the Mediterranean area are invited to exhibit part of their collection in Bonifacio, in order to make major contemporary creations accessible in our isolated territory.
- 00
Wild Trail
Like a confidential garden, it invites visitors on the tracks of monumental works scattered in the Corsican mountains, in the Alta Rocca region. Between sculpture and architecture, these pavilions are permanently installed in the middle of nature, left for the walker to discover.
OurTeam
De Renava was founded in 2020 by Prisca Meslier and Dumè Marcellesi.
The project is led by a team of researchers and experts in art, architecture and engineering from the far south of the island and all childhood friends. The team is driven by the desire to activate island heritage and invest in the creation and enhancement of local identities by creating a virtuous project that opens up to dialogue and cultural exchange.
